Hospital Executives’ Club (HEC) was founded in 1958 to promote collegial, educational and social interactions among hospital administrators.

HEC was the brainchild of the late Arthur L. Stern, a noted Hospital Administrator and Health Care Consultant. Stern, along with Henry Karpe, Daniel Fruchter, Harold Schneider and George Miller, founded HEC. Stern envisioned HEC as a forum for hospital administrators to assist each other in problem solving, with the aim of delivering high quality health care to patients in their facilities.

The Arthur Stern Memorial Annual Meeting

In tribute to Arthur Stern, the founder of HEC, we hold an annual meeting of the club in April of every year at the Joint Industry Board in Queens.  Prominient speakers from around the country are invited to address the HEC membership,  distinguished guests and and other notables who attend this meeting.

For more than 25 years we have had speakers who are cabinet members from U.S. Department of Health, Commissioners of The New York City/New York State Department of Health, Corporate CEOs, etc.  Giving our membership the latest information in our competitive, modern healthcare system.

The tradition is spearheaded annually by Henry Karpe, one of Arthur Stern's healthcare colleages who was part of the founding group in 1958.  Henry is a dilligent contributor in the field and provides healthcare consulting services to facilities.
